Champions

Yesterday, the last matches from the championship were played, and as everyone expected, Oriente won. They just needed one more point to be unreachable in the table, and they got it. Oriente tied 1-1 against The Strongest in La Paz. After this, Oriente ended up with 40 points, followed by Bolivar with 36, who lost against Blooming. So there is no doubt that Oriente deserved the cup. After that last match, Oriente's coach, Gustavo Quinteros ended his contract with Oriente because he is now the new Bolivian national soccer team coach, and as posted in this Oriente website: http://www.daleooo.com/2010/11/quinteros-me-voy-feliz.html, Quinteros says he leaves happy. "This is the best way to leave a big team, with the cup in the hand. I leave happy, because we achieved our goal; this is a gift that all the fans were waiting for", were his words after the match. Winning this championship, gave Oriente $120,000 and a cupon to participate in the Copa Libertadores de America, South America's most important cup. This definitely was a great year for Oriente, they ended second in the Apertura championship, and won both the Winter Cup and the Clausura championship.

Long Break

Last weekend there were no matches for Oriente. The game they had to play against Blooming was moved to three weeks before, when Oriente lost 1-0. This was good news for Oriente because they have many injured players. The next match for Oriente will be Sunday, November 21, so there is a lot of time for the players to get well. I didnt like this because it meant that I didnt go to the stadium Sunday. I love going there even if Oriente loses. The next match is home so Im going and if we still have chances for being champions I will go to La Paz to the last match against The Strongest.

New Leader

There is a new leader in the "Clausura" championship since Sunday. Here is the table retrieved from the official La Liga website: http://lfpb.paraelfutbol.com/tablapos.asp. This is great news for me and all of Oriente fans because this means that Oriente has a huge possiblity to be champion. As seen in the table, The teams that are fighting for the championship are Oriente, Aurora, San Jose, Bolivar, and maybe Guabira. I think that Oriente has more chances than the rest because Oriente still has one more home match left which is against one of the last teams in the table, Wilstermann. If we win that match, Oriente will be with 36 points, and then we just need to get good results against Real Potosi and The Strongest. The rest of the teams, on the other hand, have very complicated matches, rather away, or against a good team.

Good Results Keep Coming

Yesterday, was also a good day for Oriente. Good results came again not only from Oriente but also from the rest of the teams. Bolivar who was at the top of the table, lost against Aurora, and Blooming who was second, lost against The Strongest. Oriente won 2-0 against Real Mamore in Santa Cruz and raised up to the second place, because San Jose who was third, also won their match and went up to the first place. Oriente now has two home matches more, against Universitario and Wilstermann. We have to win those games and get positive results in La Paz and Potosi when we play the last two matches of the championship against Real Potosi and The Strongest to win the cup.

Good Sunday

All games played this Sunday were in favor to Oriente. The fans were dissapointed before because Oriente was losing posibilities but after this Sunday, it all changed. Bolivar, Blooming, San Jose, Real Potosi, and Aurora, who were all fighting for the championship had terrible games, and Oriente playing in Oruro, won. Bolivar tied to 4 with La Paz FC, who tied the match at the last minute of the game. Blooming was winning 2-0 but in the last 10 minutes, Guabira overturned it and ended up winning 2-3. Oriente beat San Jose in Oruro by 3-0. Real Potosi tied, and Aurora lost. This has to be champion luck, because now, the championship looks fairly easy for Oriente. They have 3 home games and 2 away, which are against Real Potosi and The Strongest, who is completely discarded to fight for the championship.
